An Eye Opener!
The most recent book I have read is titled, Black Like Me, by John Howard-Griffin. A friend had told me about it after a discussion we had on racism. The book is about an educated white man who wants to see how it really is down south for African American people. He wanted to see just how racist people were and how unequal it was. The man goes to a specialist to get a die that darkens the skin over a short period of time, so he can start his experiment. As his journey begins he soon realizes although he is, and sounds educated, he still is looked down upon and has no freedom to walk just anywhere because of his skin color. During this time he also realizes that mixed people think they are better than the non mixed African Americans, but aren't looked at any differently by the white people. It was a real eye opener for me because growing up I had heard things like that, but after reading this book it made me sad that people can be that ignorant about other cultures and have it come to that. It was a very good book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes to read to gather knowledge. Even though we do enough of that with our college books, this would be for relaxing.

This sound like a very interesting book. I would love to read it when I get a chance. It is sad that people are ignorant of other cultures. As people we do sterotype a lot and it is not fair to anyone.
I agree with you Tabatha. I feel when it comes to different cultures is that "You do not have to agree or accept their way of thinking but You have to respect it." So in return they will respect yours.
I have heard of that book before but I never really knew what it was about. It sounds very interesting...maybe one of these days when I get some free time I will pick it up.
