Presidential Candidates

I tried to go to youtube and get information on the debates. I spent 15 minutes that I don't have in my schedule sorting through mindless crap, opinions from people whose opinions don't matter to me, and "creative" video garbage made by people who really need to grow up and get a real job. Sorry, you can't sell this waste of time to me, I am not interested. I FIRMLY believe that myspace, youtube, and other sites such as these are technology's version of the National Enquirer. I don't care to learn about them, or waste my time on them. If anyone thinks that these sites are the wave of the future, it is a sad commentary on the state of our civilization. Sites like this will only be a part of our future if we let them, and I am not letting them in my world.
Now, on to the assignment. If I were to ask a question of the candidates, it would be this:
As a parent, and as a future teacher, I have seen firsthand the stress that current standardized tests and the NCLB act have placed on the backs of young children and their teachers. I have also seen great teachers leave the field of education because of increased pressure to meet AYP with flawed tests, and one size fits all standards. IF you are elected president, what are you going to do IN YOUR FIRST YEAR to take the pressure off of 8 and 9 year old children, and focus on individual learning as a result of all factors in a child's life, including home, family, income, experiences, and school? Secondly, there has been much talk of linking teacher salaries and school funding to performance on standardized tests. If you believe, as most research states, that school performance is tied to many factors outside of school, including parental involvement, do you think that it is correct to penalize the education system for student failure and not include the parental figures in the equation?
