Introducing: Jennifer Damaska
You already know my name, so here are a few things about me. I live with my family (Mom, Dad, two of my sisters-Terri and Cassie, and two dogs) in Richmond, MI. We have only lived there for two and a half years. Since we've moved in, we've planned a wedding and everything that goes with it, for my oldest sister Stacey, house-trained our puppies, unpacked everything, sent my little sister off to college, and put our house up for sale again! Our house has been on the market for 9 months now.
Living with a big family, plus buying a new house, plus moving and unpacking everything you own, plus crazy party planning, plus pets, plus re-organizing and repacking everything you own, plus cleaning for house showings, equals a full schedule, let me tell you! Most of my time has been wrapped up in all of this, not to mention babysitting, going to college full time, and working at my church every week. My family, church, and school are the biggest parts of my life right now.
I'm going to Baker to get my degree to be a teacher. Envisioning my future in a classroom of students, one day, is the thing that keeps me motivated to excel in school. It has been my lifelong aspiration to be a teacher, and I find working with children very fulfilling! So, that is why I'm here now. This class is part of my degree, and I hope to walk away with a greater appreciation of the Media around me. I acknowledge that I am a media junkie. Every day, I use the computer for email, entertainment, watching news reports, reading news reports, organizing and adding to my music collection and researching information for school. I watch TV, use a computer, go on the Internet, listen to the radio (talk and music), listen to my iPod, and use my cell phone every week. So, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of how the mass media works- how is it created, disbursed, and even regulated.
