This was on Magic Radio during the Breakfast Club. Between Jim Harper and Faye, the producer of the show.
Today, I got up and heard Helen DeGeneres crying on the radio, because she did not read a contract that she signed at the Animal Rescue Shelter. She gave her dog to a family and the animal shelter took it away from the family and gave it to another owner. Even though Helen had the dog for a month and spent many some odd dollars on this dog. The dog was not hers to give away and to make matters worse she did not insist that they put her name on a chip.
Jim Harper seems to think that this is another case where it is celebrity that gets away with breaking the rules. Faye, the producer of the show says that is a misunderstanding and Helen did read the contract.
Here is my opinion: You adopted the dog the dog becomes yours. Unconditionally. Shelter no longer has anything to do with it. I understand the system and why it is in place but sometimes the system is just stupid.
The dog and family were happy. The dog was safe.
Jim claims that the dog, Helen and the family should have went back to the shelter and make arrangement through the shelter.
Hey: It is a dog. It is not a human being. Change the rules. Or make an exception. In this case they could have made an exception.
So many horrible things happening in our world. Give me a break. Too much to do about nothing. Allow the family with the 9 and 12 year old keep the dog. At least it was used for dog fights or target practice. It was somebody pet. Helen choose to give that dog to a family.
What is the Big Deal? Yes, she was wrong but still.
(I always thought you adopted an animal that animal becomes yours. )
That is not the case. Jim Harper, pointed out that as long as the animal shelter is around. The dog is theirs. They just allow you to feed it, take care of it and give it vaccinations. How lame.

I think Helen should be allowed to give the dog to another owner if she wants. I am sure if she was approved for adoption by the shelter, then she would not give the dog to a bad owner. I think the shelter just wanted to collect another adoption fee from the new owner. Their fees in some cases, can run high enough to adopt a purebred.
