School shootings
So is it just me or are we as a society just so use to there being school shootings that they don't get coverage anymore? There was a school shooting in Ohio the other day and there was hardly anything about it in the news and a few days later there is nothing at all. 10 years ago the news stations would have had breaking coverage and cut into shows, it would have been all over the Internet and newspapers. Today it seems that we are so use to it that it isn't even talked about it. It's just "another" school shooting, nothing else.

An instance of desensitization? . . . hmm
Haley,
This is Diane. I think society does not want a copy cat. There were already so many. The more attention they give to it the more the kids are going to do it.
I think society gets it. Don't draw any more attention to it than you have to.
It sad that it happens. It almost happen at Eastern this year, but they caught the gunmen. So maybe it is a good thing that they keep it hush, hush.
I do think that this is possibly an instance of desensitization. I do agree that there seems to be a lot of copy cat stuff, but I don't think that is why the media is not showing it as much. They do still show it, I just think they don't show it as much because it's not "breaking news" anymore, it's old, we are use to it. If it still brought in the ratings like it use too I think the medai would still be covering it like they use too.
